Effects of a Nuclear Explosion

by , February 20, 2011

in Science

Both conventional weapons and nuclear weapons rely on a blast or shock wave as their destructive force. The difference of course is that due to the massive release of energy associated with a nuclear weapon, the explosion can be millions of times more powerful than that of a conventional weapon.

Due to the large amount of energy released by a nuclear weapon, heat and light energy are emitted in the form of thermal energy, and the temperatures reached are much higher than with conventional weapons.
